Independent:​ An independent financial adviser will have knowledge of all financial areas, including investments, savings, insurance, pensions, tax planning and family estate management. An independent mortgage adviser will have a wide knowledge of the mortgages available from different lenders. They can search thewhole of the market before recommending the best deal.

Restricted: Restricted advisers will be limited to provide you with a pre-selected range of products. It should be noted that the term Restricted may mean that an adviser restricts themselves to just one business area in which they can operate a Whole of Market model.

You should be clear with anyone you contact, which type of advice services they provide. Do consider asking about professional qualifications, accreditations, and your personal protection if you find later that you have been mis-advised.
